Fight Hunger - Support HEROES ACT #HungerActionMonth

The increased hunger in our community is unprecedented. The CARES Act provided needed support that made a huge difference but it's expiring soon.

The HEROES Act extends and builds on the CARES Act. It passed the House in May and is waiting on Senate. Highlights include:

• Increased SNAP (food stamps) and expanded unemployment assistance;

• assistance for struggling state and local governments;

• another $1,200 relief payments to individuals, $500 per child

• hazard pay for essential front-line workers;

• housing assistance fund to help pay rents and mortgages; and

• health insurance premium payments for laid off workers

This needed legislation has languished in the Senate and becomes more urgent as the CARES Act funding runs out but the economic crisis continues. You can find more about it here.

You can help by encouraging Ohio's senators to immediately support the HEROES Act and the SNAP increase. SNAP lifts people out of poverty, improves health and boosts economic activity. The HEROES Act will strengthen SNAP for all Ohioans who need help putting food on the family.
